Reflections on the past 4 years, change, and Christ

I have officially been out of college as long as I was in college! That feels like a weird thing to say. This past Saturday, Pepperdine hosted graduation, the same graduation I attended 4 years ago! Unbelievable. So, what have I done for the last 4 years?

1. Moved to Oklahoma
2. Worked for a hotel, AT&T, and for Caperton Photography
3. Got married <3
4. Got promoted at AT&T to Assistant Manager (after moving stores)
5. Left AT&T
6. Became a missionary
7. Moved to Germany

and in between watched friends and family get married, move, find dreams jobs, and have babies!

I suppose the greatest lesson I have learned in the last 4 years (or I guess you could really say 8) is that change is the only thing guaranteed on this earth. No matter how wonderful something is in this life- it will all pass away.

Which is why I am so thankful for this promise:

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35

and this one:

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Especially when, in 4 months for us, everything changes. No matter how much we love it or hate it or anything. In 4 months, it all changes. And at the moment, we have no idea what that is going to look like. We have no idea what the future holds, what God has in store for us. Despite our desperate prayers for answers, the only answer we have received so far is:

Wait on me.

Which why I am especially thankful for this promise:

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Because even though we don’t know what tomorrow holds. We know who holds tomorrow. And in a world that makes my head spin with change, I am thankful that my foundation is in Jesus.
